MORPH AND MULTIPLY

GMYX Small Group
February 27

My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you...
Galatians 4:19

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20

Without a vision the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18

Introduction: If a driver stops before you and invites you for a free ride, would you accept his offer?
But what if he does not tell you your destination?
You will then be afraid to ride in because you might not know where he’ll bring you nor                      how long the ride is.

The same happens in our personal lives.
There is danger if we do not know our destination.
Cite the importance of having a vision. Proverbs 29:18
Examples: Coke, creamsilk, uplb, sma, hillsong, AMC, etc.
How about us? God has a plan for our lives. Are we aware of it? Unless you know that He has plans for you, you can’t/won’t transform.
Cite mission and vision

Having vision means having the idea where you are going before you start on the trip –Tomorrow can be different

Do you have a clear picture of your destination?
Good thing Christ already told us His plan. Where? In His word.
1.       To  know Him and exhibit His character (Galatians 4:19)
2.       To make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20)

We are called to experience metamorphosis. ‘If we are not moving forward, we are stagnating.’
We won’t change in an instant. We need to undergo the process—discipleship

Here’s the question: how committed are you to be discipled? How far are you willing to go?
He saved you not to play around. Morph and multiply. From Christformation to multiplication.

He wants to transform your personal, academic, spiritual, emotional life.
School: grades do not determine success (whoa?)
Because Christ is in new, you will surely succeed.
I can do all things through Christ...

Romans 5:17- you will reign in life: grace and gift of righteousness
“God will give me the grace. I need not cheat nor go with the trend.”
He’ll enable you to be creative and to be disciplined.
Ask: If Christ were in my situation, what would he do? Go back to the Vision.

Church: are you ready for change? Are you satisfied with what’s happening?
Back to the chapter 1: Am i being transformed or am i still conforming?
“I’m done with GMYX. I’m OK now, I don’t need discipleship anymore.”
This does not determine your maturity. Go back to the Vision.

Spiritual Life: Am i becoming routinary? (prayer, etc.) Am i moving forward? Am I focusing on God?
                          Go back to the Vision

Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:13-15)
What will matter in the end is the Kingdom of God
Christ will shine on You!

Ikaw

I could still remember the time when we were practicing this song. There was just a conflict then and the atmosphere was kinda...awkward. Some members of the team entered quietly into the room...everyone was listening to the song. Afterwards, when the music had just ended, the chair i was sitting onto fell off the stage. Everyone laughed. What an icebreaker!

Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?

This was taken when the guests were eating. It looks as if we were just practicing. Had fun making music that time. Jm rocks!

Ngayon at Kailanman

This was during my birthday. I look haggard here. Look at Kuya Sonny. Hehe. :)

Wait Upon the Lord

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
and complain, O Israel,
"My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God"?

28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40: 27-31

WAIT

Desperately, helplessly, longingly I cried.
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, He replied.
I pled and wept for a clue to my fate
The master said gently, "Child, you must wait."

"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is Your hand shortened, or have You not heard?
By faith I have asked and I'm claiming Your word!
My future and all to which I relate,
Hangs in the balance and you tell me, 'Wait'?
I am needing a 'Yes' or a 'Go ahead' sign
Or even a 'No' to which I could resign.
And Lord, You have promised that if we believe
We need but to ask and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry,
I am weary of asking, I need a reply!

And quietly, softly I learned of my fate.
As the Master replied once again, "You must wait."
He seemed then to kneel and His eyes met with mine.
And tenderly He said, I could give you a sign..
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause the mountain to run.
All you seek I could give and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint,
You'd not know the power I give to the faint,
You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair,
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there,
You'd not know the joy of just resting in Me

When darkness and silence is all that you can see.
You'd never experience that fullness of love
as the peace of My spirit descends like a dove
You'd know that I give and save for a start
But you'd not know the depth and beat of My heart.

The glow of My comfort late at night,
the faith that I give when you walk without sight,
The depth that's beyond getting just what you ask,
An infinite God who makes what you have last.
And you never would know should your pain quickly flee
What it means that My grace is sufficient for thee!

Yes, your dreams for that loved one
O'er night would come true.
But the loss, if you lost what I'm doing in you.
So be (silent)still, My child, and in time you will see
that the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.
And how often may My answers seem terribly late
My most precious answer of all is still, "WAIT!"

Religion vs. the Gospel

Religion is man-made
The Gospel is God-made (Gal.1:11)

Religion is man's attempt to reach God
The Gospel is God's attempt to reach man

Religion is based on self-righteousness
In the Gospel, only God is righteous

Religion is man-controlled
The Gospel cannot be controlled

Religion is characterized with man's effort
The Gospel is purely God's effort

Religion is do, do, do
The Gospel says, 'done'

Religion is man's strength
The Gospel is God's power for the salvation of man (Romans 1:16)

Religion is an attempt to create a god you can control
In the Gospel, God took the initiative to save us given that we are powerless to control our eternal destiny.

Ephesians 2:10

10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

We don't do good works for us to be saved. We were saved to do good works.

These works are to be done in 'fullness of time'. God's preparation includes time, location, method.

Such works do not spring from our own strength or good intentions. They have been prepared by God even before; He works them 'in'. We then work them 'out'

Grace Unleashed

Grace is like a guy. You don't pursue it. You let it chase you. You don't make grace happen. If you have the ability to make it happen, that won't be grace.

Gospel 101

Crown of thorns for tormented thoughts.

Sealed

There are certain truths I can't bear now. Time will come, upon being prepared, the Lord will release the Spirit of understanding upon me. This will surely result to tremendous joy and wisdom. Saving the best for last.

Made Alive

Her heart was about to march toward the grave
when Yahweh's voice called out to her.
His power roused her to her feet: there she was,
running towards Him.

On Wholesale Westernization

A paper on Chinese Philosophy
February 28, 2007

Adopting the western model to achieve modernization has been becoming a trend. For them to be able to reach modernization, some countries attest that they have to adopt that given model simply because it worked on those countries. But then, must we be hasty in doing major actions as such?

The path to modernization involves changes in industry as well as in philosophy. Current trend as of now is characterized by industrial boom and rapid development in technology. These forms of progress take with them the changing of mindsets of the society that adopts them. Some are becoming inclined to rationalization, while leaving behind their age-old dogmatic way of thinking. As I have said, westernization as a means to achieve modernization is the way certain nations adopt. This action may work, but not at all times. We have seen its positive effects on Western nations such as Great Britain, US and Germany; we are fully convinced that it worked for them. But if we are to consider Oriental countries, we are having double thoughts. Modernization inclined with westernization is somehow strange to the orients. These people have philosophical and cultural background which are totally different from them. So, upon merging of ideas, cultures and values, conflicts and certain torturous results are never prevented. Upon sudden shifting from the age-old ‘tried and tested’ paradigm they used to embrace to totally strange yet seemingly ‘trendy’ one, they are losing their identity as a nation and are somehow becoming out of track. They do not need to totally adhere to this given model to achieve modernization for it is not the sole model that is adoptable. It may serve as a springboard but it may not work at all times.

I agree with Liu Fangtong when he said that Eastern countries must choose their own route suitable to them. They must not go with the flow otherwise tormenting crises arising from contradictions and cultural conflicts would emerge. I am not saying that they should close their doors with from the influences the west might bring upon them. In fact, westernization per se has some elements that are universally applicable. But what is happening today was that certain oriental nations are struggling to totally reconcile western ideas with their culture and belief system and this tremendously affects them in a negative way. The good thing oriental nations can do is to integrate any experience or idea that may seem applicable to their culture while discarding others that are seemingly irrelevant.

ISAIAH 12
Songs of Praise
1 In that day you will say:
"I will praise you, O LORD.
Although you were angry with me,
       your anger has turned away
       and you have comforted me2 Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid.
       The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song;
       he has become my salvation."
3 With joy you will draw water
       from the wells of salvation
.
4 In that day you will say:
       "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.
 5 Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things;
let this be known to all the world.
6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
for great is the Holy One of Israel among you."

PSALM 63:1 O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.

Psalm 1:2-3 -Blessed is the man ....whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season

Whatever he does prospers.
Jeremiah 17:7-8- "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

Uphill Battle

I've found myself telling my giant, "One of us has got to be consumed and that's not gonna be me."

The more I step farther from the comfort zone and the ordinary and thread along the unpopular path, the more things get unfamiliar. New things: people, challenges, giftings, ideas, bullies. Forget the past: the good, the bad, the achievements. Look upward. He was the God of yesterdays. He will be the God of tomorrow

Imagine the giants you faced; the mountains your faith has moved, the breakthroughs you experienced, the precious things you've let go of, the troubles you've been delivered from, the wounds you received, the battles you fought, the cobras you thread upon. The path you've walked. YOU HAVE A GREAT GOD-SIZED DESTINY. God is with you.

Washing Machine

Browsing upon my xanga site. Found this quote:

(It was just an entry in my creative writing course, college days)

Paghihintay

aka Quiet Time

magpupuyat ako
ako’y maghihintay
dahil ako’y nananabik
na ika’y masilayan

sa harap ng kandila
 sa gitna ng dilim
sa naubos na lakas
sa iyo’y hihimlay

ang pusong tahimik
sa iyong pagdaa’y magaabang
at sayong pagdating
buong galak kang sasalubungin

pagkat inaasam ay ikaw lang
makasama ka’y tanging kahilingan
sa iyong balikat ako’y mahihimbing
hanggang muling mag-alay
sa umagang parating.

Inexhaustible Grace

Never think that you have exhausted God's grace. A mind driven by law and performance thinks that it may have received much of God's goodness and that it came to the point where there's nothing left and God has already given up on him. Grace still powerfully does its work when you fail. Where sin abounds, grace superabounds.

The Spirit of grace carries you in every season. It is equivalent to what you are going through. Grace=struggle; grace=sin; grace=doubts; grace=dreams. Grace builds up.

All the days of your life God's goodness and mercy cover you. Are you in the desert? God's covering is upon you. Are you struggling with doubts? Remember that in God's grace He has not given you over to the doubt. Grace never fails

Truth

"Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God." (KJV)

Jesus--the truth. No lie comes from the truth. When we see Jesus we gaze at the truth. No heaviness, deceit, manipulation. Just peace. We ourselves will be affected. We won't be pretentious. We'll be truthful and naked as a child. We won't be deceived with appearances; we'll love substance. We will rest cause we are relying on the One who knows everything. No need to know everything, just know the ONE who knows everything!

Wisdom of the World vs. Foolishness of God

Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  1 Cor. 1:20

The wisdom of the world extinguishes the power of the cross. When you adhere or focus sa way of thinking ng mundo, mara-rob off ang revelation ng cross sa 'yo, along with its power. You'll look on appearances and rely solely on the common sense, which lead to emptiness coz you've denied and ignored the substance--Jesus. He is the exact representation of God, viz. His fullness. In Him is truth.

Para sa mundo, ang gospel (message of the cross, we, being sinners were saved and made righteous in Christ) ay foolishness. Just another belief. Yet, the people who refute this truth do not really understand it. Sa atin naman, eto ang kapangyarihan ng Dios. Imagine this, ang kahangalan sa eyes ng mundo ay kapangyarihan sa believers. Same object, different perspective.

Na-prophesy sa Isaiah 29:14, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intellligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." God planned na i-nullify ang karunungan ng 'wise', at ang mga intelligent will end up frustrated sa kanilang pursuit. Now, ni-regard ni God as kahangalan ang wisdom ng world, along with its discoveries, projections, inventions, institutions, theories, claims, definitions, set trends.

It doesn't mean di Siya involved and existing. Hindi lang talaga Siya isinali.

The only thing that counts sabi sa Galatians is faith. Walang merit aside from this. Tuwa si God sa kahangalan Gospel to save those who believe. Ang kahangalan pala sa mata ng mundo ang siyang makakapagligtas sayo!

Dear Artist

You can't eliminate nor separate from yourself the artistic side of you. That's how God made you.
Facing your destiny demands all of you. The future God has in store for you includes your whole being, meaning the destiny He has prepared for you is for the real you. You must find who you really are for you to fully enjoy what He has prepared for you. Get rid of illusory desires. God is not far as you think He is. If Jesus is in your heart, you can be rest assured that He'll bring you to the right track.

Unfinished Composition

You brought me to the place
Where your love and your grace
Have led me to your face
You came near and you said
"Do not fear I am here,

I called Your name and you ran to me
You stilled my soul and set me free
And my eyes will ever be on you
You are the light that makes me see

Calling

First and foremost we are called to Christ. he has called us to Himself. He wants us to lose ourselves for His sake--not for a cause, but fir Him, He, being the reason why we wake up, why we sing, why we do a certain thing.

YOUTHMINISTRY 101

Build the ministry on Christ's finished work.
Don't limit what God can do through them.
Minister to the heart with the heart of Jesus

Seeing

Truly, every storm will cease, every wind will die down and all fears will be stilled when He comes with the peace and healing in His hands. His beauty can dampen every horrible and dark aspect in our lives. When He is the center of our focus, we see things differently--with the eyes of faith and not as they are. We see things with eyes made holy, as God sees them. Everything makes sense in the light of His presence.

Stilled by His radiance. Consumed by it, sin is effortlessly repulsed.
